Clint is currently on the road…

For the next month (until the 31st of May), I’ll be touring the USA whilst trying to keep my waistline from expanding.
I waived goodbye to my current physique at the gym as I left on Friday, but will be aiming to train when I can in hotel/motel rooms to at least keep myself ‘conditioned’ for when I get back.

Posts won’t cease (I have several ready to go), but my ability to respond to questions during this month will be limited.

Stay awesome people…

Clint.

An interview with Rusty Moore - author of Visual Impact for men and women
I’m fortunate enough to be able to speak with Rusty Moore from fitnessblackbook.com on more than one occasion. In fact, he’s largely the inspiration for this sites existence.
Not only does Rusty run his high-traffic website, but he’s released several books — most notably Visual Impact for both Men and Women.

Clint: Firstly, thanks Rusty for stopping by and taking the time to answer some ‘Crude’ questions.

Rusty Moore: No problem Clint. I don’t too many of these interviews, but I’m excited about the growth and emergence of your blog…so I’m pumped to be part of that.

Clint: For those that don’t know much about you, mind giving us a run-down on how you started and made a name for yourself in the fitness industry?

Rusty Moore: Well…I started a blog back in June of 2007 after being a bit fed up with where fitness was headed. The only sites online back then were geared towards bodybuilders. Most of the sites had a corny meat-head feel about them.

Sites filled with men who looked like ex-cons women who looked like 80′s strippers.

…that probably sounds harsh, but fitness had turned into this weird subculture. My world was filled with people who’s goal was to look more like the men and women in a James Bond film…and less like the men and women at a WWE match.

My blog, Fitness Black Book, quickly took off. I certainly had my critics, but the overwhelming response was positive. My methods were aimed at getting the slim and muscular look. Getting fit without adding as much size as possible. This allowed people to still wear stylish clothes. People used the techniques I had perfected over a 20 year period and got outstanding results. The word spread and the site went viral in a big way. (more…)

The 2011 Australian Fitness & Health Expo – a ‘crude’ review

The following is a snap-shot of The Australian Fitness & Health Expo in Sydney, Australia from the 15th-17th April.

Some of the highlights…

With 2 tickets in my hand (thanks to Raymond for sending them all the way from QLD), my fiancee and I arrived not long after midday.

We thankfully didn’t have to queue in a line that resembled the auditions for Australia’s Next Top Inflatable Pectorals.
From bleach-blonde Guido’s sporting singlets, vests and muscle tees (in cold and wet 15 degree temperatures), to barbie dolls with fake breasts as far as the eye could see — there was a douche-bag for everyone. (more…)

How to make ‘protein fluff’ super fast – a deliciously high protein dessert (trial 1)

Many of you have heard of Martin Berkhan’s protein fluff invention that has suddenly become a massive hit amongst those in the lean fitness circle.
I’m a huge fan of it, due to the fact it’s easy to make and doubles as a dessert (seriously).
I have a serving pretty much every night, with my fiancée steeling the spoon out of my hand to take part of the action (on more than one occasion mind you). (more…)

Q & A: Should you abandon Visual Impact for Lean Gains?

This week I received an email from Matt, who’s an avid reader of ‘The Crude’.
He writes…

Q:“Hey Clint, I need some advice. I am in week 4 of Visual Impact. It is going well. Now, I have just started a personal consultation with Martin Berkhan. He has constructed a nutrition AND training program for me. I start a 1 week consultation on Monday. Do you think I should abandon Visual Impact and just get involved with the heavy, reverse pyramid strength training that Martin recommends? The reason I am asking is due to the fact that you have been through Visual Impact fully but recently, seem to have been converted to the Lean Gains way. Your advice would be very much appreciated.
Cheers, Matt”
