An Interview with Pia “Slinkii” Muehlenbeck

Today, I’ve been lucky enough to delve inside the mind of Pia Muehlenbeck

Pia’s a model, fitness advocate, author of “How to lose fat in 7 days” and the editor of lifestyle website Slinkii.com.
Pia’s made quite a name for herself in a relatively short time and today she shares with us her insights into training, diet and looking ‘photo ready’ year-round.

Clint: Thanks Pia for stopping by and taking the time to answer some ‘Crude’ questions.

Pia: My Pleasure Clint, Thanks for having me!

Clint: For those that don’t know much about you, mind giving us a run-down on how you started and made a name for yourself online and within the modeling industry?

Pia: Well, the two went hand-in-hand really. When I started working as a model I quickly realized that the biggest challenge of the job is to stay photo-ready all year round. This meant that I started doing a lot of research, talking to people that inspired me, and learning how to maintain a lean, toned shape.

There are so many different approaches and diets, however a lot of them are fads that might work instantly but are too difficult to maintain for long periods of time. I became much more interested in the health and fitness side of the industry, it intrigued me. I just love knowing that we are in charge of our own appearance, and with the right knowledge we can completely overhaul our bodies and look the way we want to look. But it takes that knowledge.

I just love knowing that we are in charge of our own appearance, and with the right knowledge we can completely overhaul our bodies and look the way we want to look. But it takes that knowledge.

Now, in no way am I suggesting that I possess this knowledge. I have learnt a little about a HUGE industry that is constantly evolving. But this is why I started SLINKII. It’s a site for women who are interested in learning more about fitness, beauty and a healthy lifestyle. We share tips, workouts, recipes, celebrity fitness news, and basically anything that interests us. For the women that like to get some motivation every day, like to stay on top of the news, and like to get some fresh ideas, it provides that platform. Read the rest of this entry »

Trying to stay fit and keep your muscle post wedding, honeymoon and Christmas

It’s been a long time between drinks hasn’t it?

I haven’t written on here for a long, long time.
Laziness, awesomeness and a myriad of equally lame excuses have prevented me from finding something to talk about.

Pixel Demon

My Design business "Pixel Demon" has just been launched.

I’ve also started my own creative/design business called Pixel Demon which took a lot of spare time to setup.

Other than that…

Four things have happened to me since the start of December last year – and I thought it time to write about how they have affected my muscle retention, fat loss and training in general.

Then I’d thought I’d post my current training schedule so you can rip it apart and tell me how much better your one is than mine. Read the rest of this entry »

Eating every 2-3 hours to avoid muscle loss and preventing your metabolism from slowing down

Ok, so I haven’t written a post for a while.
There’s been a distinct lack of gimmick-busting, blunt, condescending blather since my absence.

Gym douche-bags globally, have had the chance to ‘shine’ in my absence whilst others training with shakes-weights have forgotten exactly WHY they’re considered borderline retarded.

Don’t worry – I’m back in full force, ready to unleash a tirade of semi-interesting drivel upon those that give one eighth of a sh*t.

So today’s posty is solely focused on the title (funnily enough) and as to why the entire notion that eating every 2-3 hours to avoid muscle loss and to prevent your metabolism from slowing down is a complete load of bull and every sh*t it’s ever done. Read the rest of this entry »

Is your laziness causing you progress suicide?

I’ve come to the conclusion, that tonnes of people are just plain lazy

Sure it’s a broad statement – but I think you’ll find it’s more true that not once I start picking apart the cotton wool that surrounds your perception of society.

Firstly, people don’t read emails. They just don’t.
They might ‘receive’ the email, then glance over it.

That’s where it ends.

It’s fricken laziness people – Read the f*cking email, then I won’t need to explain myself 10 times over, nor will I have you email me back in a week asking a question that’s already been answered by the f*cking Bible.
Actual contents of email are usually non biblical. Read the rest of this entry »

The two month intermittent fasting challenge is now COMPLETE!

Howdy people,
You may remember this article I wrote 2 months ago about following the leangains.com protocol for a couple of months to see what would happen.
It was really more to spur you all on rather than expect anything drastic myself.

Did I achieve anything?

YES I did.
Firstly, I managed to maintain muscle mass which is very fricken important.
Secondly, my fiance tells me that she’s noticed the final two abdominals peaking their way through bottom end of my waistline.

What did I give up?

I gave up NOTHING.
In fact, I’ve been eating a lot of naughty sh*t the past 2 months. This includes apple crumbles, tarts, pies and countless amounts of rocky road.
As leangains suggests, you really can eat what you want, when you want it
All you have to do is fast for 16 hours a day (12-14 for the ladies).

Sound difficult?

Just have your last meal at night before 9pm and don’t eat again until lunch time (12-1pm) the next day.
Do that at least 5 days a week and Bobs your uncle.

What about drastic results?

Ive found the lower in body fat you are, the slower the fat loss progress will be. Although others have said on the previous post, they are losing pounds and pounds of fat even after only a few weeks on the program.

Martin posts a lot of great results on his website, but you need to keep in mind, a lot of the results shown are after 3-6 months on the program.
This is a GOOD thing — anything that takes time to come off, will be more sustainable in the long run.

Now it’s your turn…

If you have any before and after photos, and you’d like to share them, please either email them to me at clint at crudefitness.com, or post a link to them in the comments section below.

Clint’s Note: Now it’s your turn. How did intermittent fasting lean gains style work for you? Comment below.
