Another day at the gym with a cheesecake in the oven back at home.
You might’ve already seen over on my facebook page, that I recently made a caramel cheesecake in the name of fitness.
Sure it has a million calories in it, but will that stop me from enjoy a slice of it?
Hell no. In fact, I’m gonna force my friends and family to eat it with me. Read the rest of this entry »
This week I received an email from Idris.
He writes…
Q:“Hi Clint, firstly congrats with the results on the program. I have just bought the Visual Impact program and also Eat Stop Eat.
My question is during phase 1 did you follow Eat Stop Eat or Lean Gains? Or were you just eating at maintenance? As I am under the impression that during this phase it is more about volume therefore you would need too consume more food/protein to add in repairing the muscles.
Also, did you follow the program to a t? or did you increase HIIT or an extra day or weights?
Anyway, congrats again and I hope you can help me with the above questions.” Read the rest of this entry »
This week I received an email from Matt, who’s an avid reader of ‘The Crude’.
He writes…
Q:“Hey Clint, I need some advice. I am in week 4 of Visual Impact. It is going well. Now, I have just started a personal consultation with Martin Berkhan. He has constructed a nutrition AND training program for me. I start a 1 week consultation on Monday. Do you think I should abandon Visual Impact and just get involved with the heavy, reverse pyramid strength training that Martin recommends? The reason I am asking is due to the fact that you have been through Visual Impact fully but recently, seem to have been converted to the Lean Gains way. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Cheers, Matt” Read the rest of this entry »
Howdy people,
You may remember this article I wrote 2 months ago about following the leangains.com protocol for a couple of months to see what would happen.
It was really more to spur you all on rather than expect anything drastic myself.
Did I achieve anything?
YES I did.
Firstly, I managed to maintain muscle mass which is very fricken important. Secondly, my fiance tells me that she’s noticed the final two abdominals peaking their way through bottom end of my waistline.
What did I give up?
I gave up NOTHING.
In fact, I’ve been eating a lot of naughty sh*t the past 2 months. This includes apple crumbles, tarts, pies and countless amounts of rocky road. As leangains suggests, you really can eat what you want, when you want it All you have to do is fast for 16 hours a day (12-14 for the ladies).
Sound difficult?
Just have your last meal at night before 9pm and don’t eat again until lunch time (12-1pm) the next day.
Do that at least 5 days a week and Bobs your uncle.
What about drastic results?
Ive found the lower in body fat you are, the slower the fat loss progress will be. Although others have said on the previous post, they are losing pounds and pounds of fat even after only a few weeks on the program.
Martin posts a lot of great results on his website, but you need to keep in mind, a lot of the results shown are after 3-6 months on the program. This is a GOOD thing — anything that takes time to come off, will be more sustainable in the long run.
Now it’s your turn…
If you have any before and after photos, and you’d like to share them, please either email them to me at clint at crudefitness.com, or post a link to them in the comments section below.
Clint’s Note:Now it’s your turn. How did intermittent fasting lean gains style work for you? Comment below.
With Visual Impact having come to an end, I feel it’s time to trial something else which is a little more diet-related.
I’ll continue to use Visual Impact as a training regimen, whilst manipulating my diet even further with an Intermittent Fasting protocol from leangains.com
What is lean gains?
Lean gains is an intermittent fasting technique introduced and supported by Martin Berkhan over at leangains.com.
His blog is fantastic in the way he continually backs up what he says, has a vast client base to prove it works and constantly answers the 100′s of comments that flood onto the site daily.
What am I hoping to achieve with intermittent fasting
My results from Visual Impact were fantastic (make no mistake), but I let myself down in the diet department on one too many occasions.
I was sitting at around 8-9% BF by the end of it, and this time id like to drop a digit or so more but most importantly be able to maintain it!
This is where the genius of intermittent fasting comes in to the equation. Read the rest of this entry »
