What is Reverse Pyramid Training?

Reverse Pyramid Training or RPT, is a style of training I’ve quickly grown to love. I’m now a 2 weeks or so in, and feeling pretty good about myself. My lifts have gone up in every area and I feel pretty strong.

Why RPT?

It largely goes against traditional body building methods – Normally, you might start with a weight you can do 10 reps with, then progressively ramp up your weight and reduce the number of reps as you go heavier.
This is where Reverse Pyramid Training is different and will see you starting your HEAVIEST weights on your first set (after a very light warmup).

If your goal is increased mass and strength, this might be THE technique you’ve been looking for.

Everyone has their goto bunch of exercises that they use when they KNOW they’ve hit a wall.
Sure-fire workout routines that build muscle are a MUST HAVE in anyones box of training tricks.

What should you do when you’ve stopped ‘gaining’?
I can’t stress enough that gains, no matter how small, are fricken GAINS!
A ‘gain’ is adding 1.25kg’s to your bench press, or its adding a single rep to a set that you normally couldn’t do the last time you did exactly the same exercise.

If you can’t seem to add 5kg’s to your bench-press each and every week, remember—not even Superman can.

The best training split ever – does it exist?

Everyone is searching for the holy-mutha-f*$ken-grail of training splits.
How does one go about deciding which circuits or body parts to train on any particular day?

After all, there are literally hundreds of variations out there. This can drive you insane.

They work for a while, then nothing
Each split will give you results for a finite amount of time before the body starts realising that you’re trying to trick it into gaining unnecessary muscle whilst shedding its precious fat. MMMmmmmmm fat. Read the rest of this entry »
